Carlo heads the Financial Services practice of the Luxembourg office, which offers both regulated and non-regulated services to its financial sector clients. He has thus a broad and varied experience in the financial sector and has a good view on the different services that professional service providers offer to this sector.
Carlo joined ABAX / Weber & Bontemps in 2001, which was merged into Grant Thornton Luxembourg in 2013.
He started his accountancy career in Price Waterhouse London in 1983, where he spent almost 10 years both in the audit and management consultancy practice in Southwark Towers and London Bridge. During his time at PW, he spent time in Luxembourg where, as a management consultant of PW London’s Investment Management department, he assisted numerous financial institutions to set up office in Luxembourg in the context of UCITS I.
Carlo left PW in 1992 to set up his own audit and consultancy practice, specialising in assisting Luxembourg and European based banks in system migrations, and ensuring that those systems were set up according to local accounting and regulatory standards.
In 1997 he assisted a Brussels based bank to migrate systems in order to become Euro and 2Yk compliant. Later, he assisted a large Belgian banking institution to set up a multi GAAP accounting and reporting hub including IFRS, for all its foreign branches.
In 2001 Carlo joined ABAX / Weber & Bontemps and became responsible for the audit and consulting mandates as well all Internal Audit mandates in the Financial Sector.
In 2009 he became a director in ABAX Investment Services, a Central Administration and Transfer Agent for alternative funds under the regulation of the CSSF. Also, in 2009 he also became a Court appointed liquidator for one of the Luxembourg Madoff infected SICAV’s.
