Since the entry into force of the GDPR, firms have taken the step to nominate a DPO, but the role itself presents a series of challenges. As experienced personal data protection practitioners acting as DPO to both SMEs and multinational organisations with a global presence, we would like to invite you to join us for a lunch and learn session where we will present:
- How the DPO can support firms efficiently and effectively manage privacy risks, using a risk based approach and how this translates into practice
- How DPOs support firms comply with key data protection obligations including:
- Handling data breaches
- Data subject requests
- Data Protection Impact Assessments
- Accountability – policies, procedures and tracker files
- Implementing and respecting retention periods
- What the DPO can do to earn the title of a trusted advisor to key stakeholders, such as strengthening the relationship with:
- HR – ensuring privacy by design for new projects affecting staff
- Legal – integrating data protection into the firm’s procurement process
- Marketing – privacy considerations in the digital arena
- Outlining how the DPO can bridge the gap between Information Security and Legal
- How the DPO can support firms align compliance efforts with best practice (such as the GDPR-CARPA, or the ISO 27701)
Following the presentation, there will be a panel discussion with DPOs and key internal stakeholders from various sectors on the challenges that they face, and how they address them.
