As part of the drive to enhance payment security and in order to meet European regulatory requirements, banks will implement the Beneficiary Verification Service (VoP) starting on October 9 for all euro payments made within the SEPA area, including those processed via MULTILINE.

This new system aims to:

  • Prevent fraud (such as identity theft, fake suppliers, etc.),
  • Minimise errors when entering payment details.

How does it work?

For each initiated transfer, the payer’s bank will check in real time with the beneficiary’s bank that the entered name matches the one registered with the bank (on the IBAN or bank details).

Three situations may arise:

  • Match: The details match; the transfer is validated.
  • No Match: The details do not match. An alert is generated and further verification is required.
  • Close Match: There is a partial match; a suggested name may be provided.

Please note:

In the event of a "No Match" or "Close Match," you will need to choose between:

  1. Modifying the information before validating the payment
  2. Validating the payment without any modification. In this case, you assume full responsibility in the event of any error or fraud.

For clients for whom we handle payments:

If we do not receive feedback following this newsletter, and unless you indicate otherwise, by default all "Close Match" cases will be validated.

However, in case of a "No Match," a list of affected employees will be sent to you for your review: relevant payments will be suspended until we receive your confirmation.

What you need to do as an employer:

Please ensure that the personal data of your employees (name, surname) exactly matches the information linked to their bank details or, failing that, the information next to the IBAN shown on the bank documents. We kindly ask you to carry out these verification for all your employees
before the October payroll cycle.

The manager in charge of your file will soon provide you with the list of information currently available for all your staff. Please send us any changes to be processed before submitting the October 2025 payroll instructions by returning the document with your updates, if necessary.

Thank you for your cooperation!
